What You'll Do
We are looking for a hands-on Accountant with 3-4 years of experience in an accounting firm (practice) to join our Hinxton office. This is a highly operational role, suited to someone who enjoys being close to the numbers and involved in the day-to-day financial processes, while also contributing to monthly reporting and group requirements.

Part Time
Key responsibilities
Day-to-Day Accounting Operations
- Post and review journal entries (accruals, prepayments, payroll, intercompany)
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Accounts Payable (Suppliers)
- Manage supplier invoices: review, coding, and posting
- Prepare and execute payment runs
- Monitor supplier balances and collaborate with budget owners to resolve discrepancies
- Ensure proper approval workflows are followed
Accounts Receivable (Customers)
- Issue and track customer invoices
- Monitor accounts receivable ageing
- Lead collections and collaborate with sales team to follow up with clients to ensure timely payments
- Reconcile incoming payments and investigate variances
Month-End Close
- Support monthly closing process (cut-off, accruals, reconciliations)
- Prepare supporting schedules and analysis
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data
Compliance & Reporting
- Assist with VAT returns and statutory filings
- Support year-end accounts and external audits
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP / IFRS where relevant
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls
- Contribute to the implementation or optimisation of finance systems
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
- 3-4 years of experience in an accounting firm (practice) in the UK, strong exposure to bookkeeping and financial reporting.
- Experience with multi-entity environments, ideally exposure to intercompany accounting & experience with ERP systems (e.g. Xero, HubSpot).
Hard Skills:
- Part-qualified or newly qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Good understanding of end-to-end accounting processes (AP/AR/GL)
- Strong Excel skills: experience with accounting tools is a plus
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, operational role
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Good communication skills, especially for supplier/customer interactions
