Job Purpose 

Congenica is applying machine learning to genomic data to advance the capability of its clinical decision software, Sapientia™. A new machine learning team is being formed to deliver automation that will have a huge impact on patients’ lives.

Machine Learning Engineer is a new role within the machine learning team. You will be one of the earliest members of this new team, using your skills to improve genomic healthcare for people worldwide.

You will execute the first machine learning algorithms, advising the team on optimisations and scalability, and setting the highest standards for future activity. You will be accountable for the quality of the software which places new algorithms into production.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality implementation of ML algorithms into our live software
  • Analyse and fine-tune algorithms to improve efficiency and client experience
  • Advise on scalability and performance optimisation for both cloud and on-premises services
  • Communicate positively potential improvements to enable iteration
  • Work with Head of A.I. & Data Strategy to realise and inform the overall strategy
  • Work with engineering and quality assurance colleagues to bring software to production
  • Build trusted relations with colleagues, partners and stakeholders

  • Master’s degree or better in computer science or similar

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of probability, statistics and algorithm.
  • Expert knowledge of Python

Related Experience

  • Experience of machine learning tools (e.g. Tensorflow, PyTorch, sci-kit learn, Keras etc.)
  • Experience of statistical software
    languages e.g. R
  • Knowledge of genomics, bioinformatics, NGS, or related field.
  • Experience of building cloud and on-premises software services
